One fairly simple modification that I found to be quite useful is generalizing the dice-adding effects of the Control or Create powers to any power with 'Useful'. If you can come up with a creative way for your power to help you, roll it, and you can add up to Width in dice to another roll if you pay 1 Willpower per die added. 

Say you have 8d of Telekinesis and you want to search a room...

You describe what you want to do with TK to make it easier... "I'm going to focus, and levitate everything in the room, swirling it around and around so each object passes before my eyes at different angles."

You roll it, getting 3x7. Nice. So, you spend 3 Willpower, and add 3 dice to your SENSE+See (or BRAINS+Investigation or whatever) roll.

Not only is it cool, but its also quite effective.
