Afghan rugs are a staple of the local craft scene and hold histories, stories, ancestries and whatnot.

Language: Pashtun
Sanity: 1D3/1D6
Mythos: +6
No Spells
Five weeks to study

The rug is large, about 10 foot by 4 foot and filled with patterns, some words, and many icons. If the player is familiar with islamic/arabic iconography or the cultures of Afghanistan they will find deciphering the rug much easier and will get more detail out of their study. Less knowledgable translation should result in less san and mythos loss at the keeper's discretion.

The rug is more than 150 years old and has been carefully handed down from father to son. It dates from before the time of the British expedition and while worn is still quite ledgible. It is considered an important tribe/family  artifact and will be hunted down by the tribe and recaptured if its wareabouts are known. The rug tells the story of strange flying creatures who arrived to mine the highest mountains and who enslaved the maker's ancestors. Much of the story is allegorical using passages from the Koran, and sometimes merely book and line numbers to short-hand the longer story elements. Where these are lacking icons and sometimes direct images are
used.

The story goes on, describing how these beasts would use tribesmen as slaves and had odd devices to fight with. The beasts were after rare minerals, but eventually the tribes banded together and were able to rise up and push back the beasts into the skies from where they didn't return. Adept translation will reveal the method used to fight them, at the keeper's discretion.
