"Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl f'taghn." In his house at R'lyeh dead Cthulhu waits dreaming."

Your Aklo Word of the Day:

F'TAGHN
: DEAD BUT DREAMING. AN INDIVISIBLE BONDAGE BETWEEN SPIRIT AND FLESH SURPASSING EVEN ENTROPY AND DEATH. F'TAGHN REMAINS AS THE FADING SOUL OF CORPSE LIGHT, INHABITING DECOMPOSING CORRUPTION IN A MARRIAGE WITH ETHERIAL FORCES.

F'taghn is the principle of the UR-reality that allows reanimation of the dead. Zombies, Vampires, Glaakeen, and most undead are madepossible by the F'taghn. Ressurection from essential salts is a process born from the F'taghn. It is F'taghn that can be amplified by powerful sorcerers to provide physical immortality.

F'taghn is linked to the Dreamlands, an area of reality made corporeal by unified beliefs and fantasies. F'taghn transmits radiant thoughts from beyond through the hideous flesh of the dead. The Tomb-Herd, orCandarian Demons, are creatures of the F'taghn.

Cthulhu and most Xothians exist in a state of F'taghn. Their flesh constantly reanimating and ressurecting in what can only be described as "ye livliest awefulness." The Deep Ones share in this state to a lesser degree, remaining immortal and growing larger over the endless millenia due to an abundance of F'taghn.

What is this? A recurring collumn? If so - coolness! I would love to learn more aklo ;)

But it looks more like taking one word and acribing it a multitude of meanings, filling the word up to the brim with meaning, making it linguistically meaningless (and indistinguable from words like Vril (awfully 1870 if you ask me) wich is not a good thing.). Also makes it hard to keep up if you start with the coolest words.

My take:

F'taghn - Dead but dreaming. In Aklo, there are many words for dead, each with each own significance (Kwefre'l - dead and eaten, Antmahl - killed in combat, Grëaf - dead to me (a cultural phenomena where someone is declared outcast from the tribe and dead), Lintshoun - soon dead (as in "when I find him";), Folödd - taken to another place, just to name a few. F'taghn means distinctly that the person is dead in body, yet the spirit is active in the same way as when dreaming. It's used mostly about dead, mighty shamans, sometimes derogatory about living, elder...
