Project Nemesis is a fan driven website for games that use the One-Roll Engine (like Nemesis, Wild Talents, Reign and Monsters) or Chaosium's Basic Roleplay System (BRP) (like Call of Cthulhu) and the Delta Green setting.
The standard method of acquiring Mythos knowledge seems to be reading
Mythos tomes or learning from first hand experience. However, there are many
other
ways to acquire this knowledge.
Celestia, astronomy
modeling/analysis software package Computer program
Description:
Celestia allows its user
to perform basic astronomical calculations and examine star charts. It is
aimed at astronomy students and amateur astronomers. A person who uses
Celestia can stumble upon a set of 'easter eggs' or hidden datasets in the
program. Labeled only Example 1, Example 2, the star charts seem to be made
up. However, a person who examines the hidden datasets will begin to see
recognizable patterns in them, patterns that correspond to the real world.
The person will eventually see the patterns in his own life and find
themselves able to manipulate them to his advantage. In reality, they are
mythos spells in an abstract formula.
Once the person casts his first spell,
he will see the star charts in the night sky, drawing closer. He will be able
to read the hidden datasets likea book and learn of the true nature of
reality.
Obviously, madness and death follows.
AstroLook, a small
computer design company put out Celestia several years ago. Shortly afterwards, the company was disbanded and the current whereabouts of its
employees and owner are unknown. However, warez groups cracked the copy
protection on Celestia and it has been available for download ever since.
Delta Green is aware of Celestia and tries its best to delete the program
from the Internet. Whenever they think they've eliminated the last copy,
someone posts a new copy of it online.
