In an almost-forgotten research station in Scotland, agents of Her Majesty's Government learn that they are to go out into the field. Lacking in tradecraft, field experience and appropriate equipment, enquires to HQ were tersely rebuffed, with the simple message "We understand your concerns, but its all for the greater good. Follow our orders and don't forget your passport".

Forced on a mission not of his choosing, Agent Martin Vickerstaff is not a happy man. Being assigned to take along a bunch of parochial, desk-bound nerds is not his idea of adequate support. Regardless, he knows how useless it is to complain, this is his job. From bitter experience its obvious that the Powers That Be have no interest in his professional opinion when it comes to this kind of assignment. Thankfully the Sat-Nav works even here in the Scottish highlands, or he'd never have found the "research" station and time is of the essence.
