Project Nemesis is a fan driven website for games that use the One-Roll Engine (like Nemesis, Wild Talents, Reign and Monsters) or Chaosium's Basic Roleplay System (BRP) (like Call of Cthulhu) and the Delta Green setting.
You remember when your little sister grew an extra head and you took the butt
end of your daddy's shotgun to her until she stopped wailingin alien
tongues? Remember when you thought
that fat headless zombie-thing wouldn't stop growing or mutating or whatever
and you kept peppering the gigantic maggots erupting from it's bloated belly
with buckshot?
Remember when you
suddenly lost control of your body and the buzzing in your brain was so loud
you almost didn't stop whatever was controlling you from blowing your own
damn fool head off with that Remington 870 you picked up off the headless
state trooper's body?
It all started in 1995. One Year
after the Fairfield Incident. Things were crazy, paranoid times full of cell
structures and biohazards. Ahundred damned things popping up needing to be
put down every week. Contaminated towns disappearing off the map, Mob
informants withering and shrivelling right inside FBI "interview" rooms like
fast forwarded Egyptian mummies. Occult graffitti showing up in bad
neighborhoods and good neighborhoods.
I saw the Yellow Sign scrawled
60 feet up the wall across the back alley of a meat packing plant. At least
three bodies worth of human meat in the dumpster. How'd they even get the
blood that high up?
Every night, a different story, a new scenario...
scattershot beads of distilled hellfire scorching new and acute trails of
twisted agony through the raw remnants of human sanity. They come at you all
at once. Not like the well-aimed surgical precision of a sniper, but
like a maniac's spree killing, slaughtering human victims like
diseased
cattle.
Remember that evening on the pier? Two ships coming
in loaded with inhuman monsters? Cargo containers shaking like unstable
bombs... the full moon glaring down with cold light in the frozen night?
Steel rending with a metallic scream?
I love Delta Green and consider it one of the best supplements of the
1990s, and if anything, Countdown is better. However, I also have to
admit that the sourcebook -- like its cousin Conspiracy X -- has
largely been made irrelevant by current events.
Bitterich's growing desperation to prolong his wretched hateful life
leads him to send Galt and his Bischofes on a quest to obtain as many
Mythos Tomes as possible in as short a time as possible. All this
international terror and sorcery catches the attention of Delta Green,
who have been gradually closing in on the Karotechia for some time.
With the shocking death of Agent ADAM in spring of 2000 during a
Karotechia ambush and Alphonse's untimely demise at the Pentagon on
September 11, 2001, A-Cell is reduced to the anonymous cipher of
ANDREA. People are taking their orders from someone who's identity is
unknown to all.
After the national tragedy on September 11, 2001, the Greys cease
contact with the United States Government as represented by
Majestic-12. As the technology well dries up, scrutiny of the alien
contact black budget begins in earnest. Due to their increasingly
frequent contact with and surveillance of Delta Green, security
officials of MJ-3 GARNET have become more and more convinced of the
existence of preternatural threats and the connection of the overall
Mythos to the Greys. It all comes to a head in 2002, as America fights
in Afghanistan and prepares for the invasion of Iraq.
The initial antagonists in Going Under are a group of culture-jammers,
would-be anarchists and revolutionaries that form a larger network of
friends, operating under the banner of UCoD. The acronym stands for
‘Under Cover of Darkness’ and has no agenda bar the current whim of
those who ocassionally hide behind it. The pseudo-organisation has also
developed their own logo, to mark their operations with.
Fifteen days ago, two California marijuana growers uncovered the
remains of what they believed to be a U.F.O. buried on the slop of Bare
Mountain. When arrested by the Siskiyou County Sheriff's Department,
the duo attempted to parlay their discovery into a plea deal. While
this was unsuccessful, their discovery was passed on to Saucerwatch
which after some research has dispatched a group to examine the alleged
crash site. Delta Green noticed their interest and sends the Agents to
investigate.
