Project Nemesis is a fan driven website for games that use the One-Roll Engine (like Nemesis, Wild Talents, Reign and Monsters) or Chaosium's Basic Roleplay System (BRP) (like Call of Cthulhu) and the Delta Green setting.
The user Sprue Rubble has posted his first impressions of Wild Talents on rpg.net. This is what he has to say about it: "I love the artwork. I'm a huge fan of Christopher Shy and he has some
really cool stuff especially the big monsters and giant robots. Sam
Araya's stuff is top notch too, if a bit too similar to Shy but at the
same time that keeps the artwork pretty consistent. My minor complaint
is that some of the illustrations look like text maps on flat
polygons... I hope I got that right."
The chapters are easy to follow and logical. I like the boxed texts for
clarifications but I wish there were a sample character generation or
two. The steps given to character creation looks incredibly simple but
I would have liked a more detailed explanation.
I was hoping for a few more sample characters on the level of Godlike but thankfully, Greg Stolze has a thread here albeit without the detailed history like the dossiers.
Ken Hite's chapter on alternate history creation is amazing. I used the campaign worksheet to get a feel for what kind of campaign I would want to run and it's making sense, if a bit hazy on the details on my part.
Detwiller's (?) alternate time-line using the Godlike campaign is
awesome. I don't know how he creates such a complex chain of events
without things ending up wildly different in the present day. Again,
this is where I think Ken's chapter will be invaluable with all the
colored inertia levels.
I love the reference to Godlike's setting in comparing the different
levels but the many references to comic books does nothing for me
because I admit I don't follow comic books.
I think Wild Talents is a fairly crunchy book, but I don't find it dry
at all. I hope they release more supplements using the timeline where
Godlike left off. At the same time, the possibilities of creating my
own post-apocalyptic super heroes is droolicious.
