This Green Box is a 2000 black Ford E-Series van which is parked in the Pheonix Sky Harbor Airport Terminal Garage on East Sky Harbor Boulevard.  The windows are tinted and the front windshield is protected with a silver windshield sun cover.

The car has about 99,000 miles on it and the gas tank is almost full.  A note scribbled on a 3 x 5 card in Sharpie propped on the steering wheel states, “Please move this car a few spots over.”  A parking pass on the front dashboard reveals that the truck was first parked there on October 8th, 2002.  The license place is “769 BIV”.  All the following is in a large red travelling chest protected by a durable black Hefty garbage bag.

How can this van stay here, and how it’s safety ensured?
‘A’ Cell has staked out the site for its anonymity – basically, the only people who see the van on a regular basis are part-time, short-term employees.  Also, the van is the same make and model as the one the airport security uses, as well as many of the private shuttles that frequent the airport.

How do the agents get to this Green Box?
deltagreen_logoA courier hands either NORWOOD or NOVAK a soft package containing a key (simple), and a sheet of paper which shows the above location/make/model/plate of the Green Box.  Additionally, NORWOOD and NOVAK are given social security cards, driver’s licenses (AZ), and agency documentation with their code names.  A handwritten note states that since they’ve introduced themselves to the local LEOs with their real identities they would do well to mitigate the damage.  Additionally, NIELSON is given her official FBI Behavioral Analysis Unit Professional Support Staff bona fides, as well as a concealed carry permit (both under the name Isabelle Nielson).

1. An unopened fifth of Johnnie Walker Black Label Scotch whisky.  This is sitting conspicuously on the passenger seat in the front.

2. In the glove compartment is a handfull of relevent paperwork for the car and the firearms – including a concealed carry permit and ownership paperwork for the revolver, and a receipt from an FBI weapons locker for the G36K.  All are under the name “Special Agent Donald Verde” of Vail, Colorado, and date back to 2002.  Also in the glove compartment is a compass, a tire pressure guage, and a Multi-Tool.

3. In a tan carrying case under the second row of seats is a Taurus .454 Casull “RAGING BULL” revolver with a 8 3/8" barrel, and a box of 50 rounds.  The revolver is wrapped in a full rosary – 50 glass beads – broken into decades of ten red beads surrounded by a single silver glass bead.  Next to the box are three speed loaders.  Around the cylinder is wrapped a sheet of thin parchment paper.  The paper bears the following prayer:

Prayer for Protection
Visit this house, we beg you, Lord, and banish from it the deadly power of the evil one.
May your holy angels dwell here to keep us in peace, and may your blessing be always upon us.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. AMEN.

4. On the third row of seats is a large, black gym bag.  The bag contains a pair of Zeiss Victory 10x42 binoculars (very expensive), an unopened box of latex gloves, a pre-paid, non encrypted cell phone, a blank USB Flash drive (curiously shaped like a pack of gum), 3 magnesium flares, a warm liter of yellow Gatorade (unopened), six scattered Powerbars (assorted flavors), four ½ liter bottles of water (unopened), an unopened pack of boxers (white), an unopened pack of socks (black), an unopened pack of under-shirts (white), an unopened toothbrush, toothpaste, a bottle of hydrogen peroxide, a spray can of oven cleaner, a pack of disposable razors, a white towel, three cable ties, a roll of duct tape, two ski masks, a small (9”x1”) 2xAA flashlight, a roll of small bills totalling $517, a taser, and a Zippo.  There is plenty of room left over in the bag for additional materials.

5. Underneath the gym bag is a bulging black leather zippered case (about A4 size, or 8 ½” x 14”, and about 4” thick), similar to a personal organizer/day planner.  Inside is a worn copy of The Moon is a Harsh Mistress with a red jacket cover and the word “ROY” written in Sharpie on the spine as well as a worn copy of The Federalist Papers with a blue jacket cover and the word “BEN” written in Sharpie on the spine.  Finally, along with the black Sharpie and a small wire bound notebook, a long note is included, which begins with “ROY says,”, detailing a dead drop site in suburban Phoenix, AZ.  The note ends – in the red book cipher – with the phrase “Destroy/Copy/Replace”.

 6. A black carrying case containing a Heckler & Koch G36K.  The rifle is wrapped in white cotton and contains a complete cleaning kit, a laser light module, a passive night vision scope, and two extra thirty round clips.  Each (3) clip is full.  If tracked, the serial number is traceable to a “Mr. Verde”, a fictional commercial firearms dealer located in Vail, Colorado.  This is on the floor in front of the third row of seats.

The following can all be found scattered around the floor behind the third row of seats.

7. Sealed Ziploc bag, extra large, stuffed full of bloody bandages.  The blood type is “O” negative – and the samples are too degraded to provide DNA information.  Also inside is a bloody, rusty pair of handcuffs and key.  If sent to a lab, the blood on the handcuffs comes back as belonging to (1) an indeterminate amphibian species and (2) to an adult human male with multiple chromosomal abnormalities.  A note in duct tape and Sharpie on the bag reads, “Medical Waste Disposal Only!”.

8. Small bottle of low dose amphetamines (21 Dexadrine pills) and a small bottle of prescription pair relievers (17 Codeine pills).  In both cases, the labels have been removed with a razor and duct tape and a Sharpie have replaced the content description (accurately).

9. A 6.5” black flat folding knife (3” blade) made from high impact fiberglass polymer reinforced nylon.  It is contained in a white Styrofoam coffee cup and wrapped in an inside-out latex glove.  The inside of the latex glove also contains pooled (human male AB positive) blood.  This knife weighs a little more than an ounce, and is completely undetectable by metal detectors.  However, it will show up on an x-ray examination (In February 2007, Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport has installed a Backscatter X-ray system for “randomly selected” passengers).

10. A shoebox containing 57 numbered black and white Polaroid headshots of an emaciated Caucasian male in his early twenties with a shaved head.  He appears to have been beaten and seems frightened in all the photographs.  The photograph’s background is a brick wall.  Any viewer gets the impression that the man is a prisoner of some kind.  There does not seem to be much variance to the photographs except for #34 – this photograph is the exact same as the others, except that the man is not in the picture, and instead it is a photo of a blank brick wall.
