Rules for the powerful Hand of Glory, aka Hand of Power.

HAND OF GLORY

Hand of GloryClass
: 3 (rare)
Description:  A perfectly preserved human hand covered with rune-like tattoos.  Each finger may be lit like a candle.
Charges: five charges disposable
Extra's: mirrored base for coherent emission instead of generalised invisibility
Maximum range: line-of-sight
Activation: designated power word (scribed on the sawn-off radius in silver)
Cost to make: an execution in Shanxi province
Use: point towards the target, focus, and concentrate on the trigger string. It sometimes takes a few seconds

Powers: When the Hand is lit, it illuminates an area about 5 meters in diameter.  Any supernatural creature that attempts to enter that sphere will take damage (see rules below).  Legend has it that if the proper words are incanted, the Hand can turn all true souls within its sphere of light invisible to undead eyes.  The Hand likely has other powers that have not been fully discovered. 

History
:  There are many scattered reports of a "Hand of Glory" from medieval Europe. Some say it is actually the right hand of Saint Paul, while others describe it as a child's hand, pure and soft.  There is also a legend of a "Left" Hand of Glory (or "Shame"), that actually attracts supernatural enitities and powers.

How it works:
It sets up a microgrid that funnels in an information gate from another contiguous continuum. Information gates are, like, easy; with a bit more energy you can crank it open and bring mass through, but that's more hazardous so it doesn't get done very often. The demonic presences--okay, the extraterrestrial sapient fast-thinkers on the other side--try to grab control over the proprioceptive nerves they can sense the layout of on the other side of the grid. The nerves are dead, like the rest of the hand, but they still act as a useful channel. So the result is an information pulse, raw information down around the Planck level, that shows up to us as a phase-conjugated beam of coherent light - called Wyrd Light - that destroys everything in its path.

Game rules
:
The Hand of Glory can be used in two ways; against one target or against multiple targets.

One target: the operator points the Hand of Glory towards the target, focuses, concentrates on the trigger string and breaks off one of the fingers. It sometimes takes a few seconds but then a bright beam of phase-conjugated coherent light shoots out of the stump and destroys everything in its path. The target (and everything in the path of the light) suffers 2 damage in Killing to each hit location.

Multiple targets
: this option works only against supernatural entities. The operator needs to set the Hand of Glory on fire. The burning Hand of Glory emits a bright flare of phase-conjugated light. All supernatural entities illuminated by the burning Hand of Glory in close range (up to 4 metres) take 2 damage in Killing each round on all hit locations. Because of the bright light all beings (natural and supernatural) within sight of the burning Hand of Glory take 2d penalty in their Sense stats.

Duration
: The Hand of Glory takes 1 damage in Shock each round it is burning. The Hand has 5 wound boxes.
