This vellum paper fragment was recovered from the estate of a Lewis
Roger Mumphry. Analysis at the Smithsonian indicates the paper stock
was most likely manufactured in Europe in the late 1700's, and is of
inferior quality. The writing style is cramped.
Here is a new tome for Call of Cthulhu. Below is an excerpt from the
book, some history for the Keeper and the tome's stats. Together, this
should provide a Keeper with sufficient information to construct a
short scenerio around the adventures described below.
Appearance: The book is made up of three scrolls. The scrolls are all
of uniform length (18 inches approximately) and are 14, 13, and 18 feet long, respectively. They are made of a type of papyrus that is
tough, but extremely thin. The scrolls are wrapped around a single
ebony rod (extreme age and an obscure chemical process peculiar to
Atlatean bookbinders have left the rod as hard and smooth as marble).
This handwritten work in English, by the witch Mav Murphy, is an extensive treatise on ghouls. In the diary she describes her years of studying the occult. She was a member of a network of occultists located in New York. One of the high-ranking members of this network, which she calls The Man, learns her spells with which she can make contact and command monsters that live underground and feast on the corpses of humans. In her diary Mav wrote down everything she learned over the years about - and from - ghouls. She also describes how she build and consecrated a temple dedicated to Mordiggian in her basement in Brooklyn, NY.
