"Nakhti, She-Serpent, princess of the rightful ruling line, High Chantress of Nophru-Ka, wounded in the service of her lord amidst foreign jackals. Cursed are they in the eyes of Set. She shall arise victorious in the life to come."

This is the inner coffin from the tomb of Nakhti Paneket, high priestess of Nophru-ka (who attempted to usurp the crown during Egypt's chaotic 14th dynasty). Apparently she met her demise at a time when Nophru-ka was at the height of his influence, as her corpse was well outfitted for the life to come. This humaniform coffin is of fine wood, painted inside and out with heiroglyphics. The stern face of Nakhti is painted on the upper surface, and the image of sweeping vulture wings adorn the sides. Inside, Nakhti's body is protected by cartonnage (a cloth and plaster mix). Still more heiroglyphics are painted on the cartonnage itself, mainly identifying and praising the deceased with maniform titles and honors, and describing the failed alliance which brought about her demise.

A single spell is revealed by carefully studying the heiroglyphics adorning the interior of the coffin. It is a ritual of human sacrifice which will restore Nakhti to life. Whoever would use this awful spell would either have to track down the canopic jars housing Nakhti's various organs, or else would need to obtain substitute parts from the bodies of young women. Casting this spell costs 1D6 SAN, exluding whatever SAN is lost in the quest for requisite materials. An additional 2d6/1 SAN results from seeing the long-dead sorceress rise from her coffin and drain the vitality from a sacrificial victim, thus reclaiming her own youth and vigor while the victim horribly disintegrates.

As of 1922, the sarcophagus sits in the private collection of Terence Kingsley, a wealthy adventurer who purchased it from tomb robbers outside Cairo and brought it back to Chicago. Kingsley sits on the board of directors for the Chicago Museum of Antiquities, so it won't be long before he realizes what he has. If word gets out, the Brotherhood of the Beast will descend like flies, allowing no act of murder or theft to stand between them and this rare prize.
