Pauly was a little guy, but thick like a fire hydrant. He wasn't lazy exactly, but never found anything to be ambitious about, and after dropping out of high school. he started doing odd jobs, working as a mover, a ditch digger, a repo guy for one of those rent-to-own places, a pizza delivery man, and a fetch and carry man on construction sites. He never made much, but it kept him in beer and Playstation, so he was content until he got... the letter.

I wanted to document this crazy roll before I break it down, so...

He never made much, but it kept him in beer and Playstation, so he was content until he got... the letter.

According to the letter he'd won a vacation in a exclusive spa and retreat- massage, mud baths, cucumber facials. The works. Never one to turn down a freebie, he packed up and headed out to the Left Coast to get his two weeks of luxury. It was weird at first, but after a few days he felt better than he did in his whole life- stronger, smarter. and better with the ladies. There must be something to these wheatgrass smothies! He read books from the library at a shocking pace, picking up a half-way decent basic education in under a week.

Things were going swimmingly until he wandered out of the main spa and into an employee only area- just curious, not snoopin' around or nothing. And there he discovered the dirty little secret of the spa- Rex A'spal'otorius The Most August and Righteous Knight of the Order of Shel. Rex was an alien. A hulking, scaley, fanged, hideous alien. An alien strapped to an armored table having his fluids drained off and added to the food!. Pauly stumbled back, horrified, and knocked over a vat of vile bubbling alien juices which crashed to the floor, waking Rex, and alerting the Spa staff. Rex- his knighthood an honorary title, rather than an indicator of nobility or honor- saw his chance to escape with the aid of the weak-willed (and best, unprotected from telepathic attack by psychoinhibiter drugs) human before him- with a surge of power from his telepathic organs, he tore the consciousness from Pauly's body, and supplanted it with his own, fleeing his tormentors in the guise of the clueless Pauly.

Pauly found that without glands and such, his floating mind-mote didn't panic. Being a disembodied spark of sentience was sort of relaxing. Lots of things made sense. And he realized just how much he'd wasted his life up till this point. While he pondered such things, he felt a strange tugging which grew and grew, drawing him in like gravity into the recently vacated but telepathically active alien body, until with a snap and surge of alien senses and sensations, he awoke inside Rex's abandoned body! Rex's captors, seeing the alien seemingly dead, had unstrapped his body to examine it more closely, and Pauly surged to his weirdly formed feet, and escaped by the most experiment method he could think of- crashing right through the walls of the spa and out into the street.

While being pursued by the cult members who ran the Spa, he blundered into a shopping mall, and started a panic with his freakish appearance and blundering panicked destruction, until finally one lonely brave foolish under-paid rent-a-cop drew his 9mm, and stood his ground against the rampaging monster. The results were tragic, with Pauly killing the cop accidentally, being unaware of just how deadly his new body could be.

When the local city contract talent team arrived to deal with him, he surrendered, placing himself in their custody.

He was set to stand trial for manslaughter (among other charges) when his status as a human was confirmed by Federal telepaths, but then he was made an offer he couldn't refuse- join the Dept of Talent Security, and help prevent abuses such as the one which brought him to his unfortunate state. With his experience as a disembodied mote still on his mind, he accepted- finally looking to make the world a better place.

He did not excel at the usual training matrix for DTS agents, but his clumsy but powerful telepathic powers proved a boon to his agency many times, making up for his lack of tradecraft. And the ability to rip a tank to scrap with his bare hands certainly helps as well.
