Project Nemesis is a fan driven website for games that use the One-Roll Engine (like Nemesis, Wild Talents, Reign and Monsters) or Chaosium's Basic Roleplay System (BRP) (like Call of Cthulhu) and the Delta Green setting.
With the shocking death of Agent ADAM in spring of 2000 during a
Karotechia ambush and Alphonse's untimely demise at the Pentagon on
September 11, 2001, A-Cell is reduced to the anonymous cipher of
ANDREA. People are taking their orders from someone who's identity is
unknown to all.
N-Cell conducts an operation to retrieve Alphonse's
brain for Agent NANCY, but much of it was burned and destroyed in the
Pentagon attack. Nevertheless, Agent NANCY busies herself with
recording and organizing what few memories she can digest for the
benefit of others.
Meanwhile, the active Delta Green Agents with the most "pull" are Agent ERNIE, a policy wonk with the National Security Council; Agent DIRK: aka Vice-Admiral Harley Patton, former Director of Naval
Intelligence, then Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency (from 2001 to 2004), and Agent BRANDON: aka Robert A. Gerand, Esq.;Counsel for Intelligence Policy, Dept. of Justice. After an initial period of planning and quiet desperation, these men call a general meeting of senior Delta Green Agents and Friendlies shortly after Alphonse's death in 2001. It is there that Agent BUTLER
unveils to the rank and file his plan to recruit as many Majestic personnel into Delta Green as possible. Needless to say, this outrages many Agents who have covertly opposed the United States Government's collaboration with alien intelligences at the risk of their own lives and those of their loved ones. Nevertheless, BUTLER outlines the need for such drastic measures with razor sharp rhetorical skill, making it sound all but inevitable. He then produces a fait accompli by introducing the Director of MJ-3 GARNET, Gavin Ross to the meeting as the new Agent ADAM.
Ross explains that the Greys have ceased contact with Majestic and elaborates on his plan to end the alien collaboration by ending the human collaborators. This is received rather well by the more aggressive members of Delta Green with a fondness for the cowboy era. Despite, or perhaps due to this ambitious and overreaching plan, trust does not abound. For a time, many Delta Green Agents go to ground and exhibit what seems to be symptoms of extreme paranoia. To the powers that be at Majestic, it appears that Delta Green have packed their bags and went home. This is precisely what Gavin Ross reports to the Majestic Steering Committee.
With Ross on board, he systematically targets likely candidates for recruitment, consulting often with Agent BUTLER and relying on his psychological expertise. Furthermore, he uses his authority to hire Delta Green agents and place them in strategic positions within Majestic. One of his major coups during this infiltration period is assigning Agent BUTLER to take over the remnants of the OUTLOOK Group after Delta Green's Maryland and Puerto Rico raids left the brainwashing think-tank in shambles.
Throughout this harrowing ordeal, the identity of Agent ANDREA remained, as always, a mystery.
