This spell requires total darkness and a room, or cave, at least 30 feet below ground. The ritualist(s) need to pour one gallon of human blood in a black marble container which also contains some pulverized lava stone and part of a root from an ancient oak (at least 100 years).

As the ritualist(s) chant the incantation (only found on the Obsidian Stele of buried Hykses) a slight greenish glow will appear in the container. Each hour of chanting will improve the rituals effect (see below) but the climax must be reached exactly at midnight, when the ritualist(s) also must pay 3 permanent POW (total, if several people are involved they may split the cost between them). Each hour of chanting beyond the third requires a succesful Health check (BRP: CON-roll).

EFFECT :

As the rituals climax is reached the greenish glow increase and a black iridiscent globe the size of a childs fist will rise out of the container. As it reaches a height of 3 feet it will start to spin and then punch downward into the ground, shattering the marble container and blowing marble shrapnel in a radius of 10 feet (1d4 damage within that area/Area 2 explosion).

The Seed will penetrate to a depth of 150 feet and then start sending out a myriad of dark tendrils in all directions that worms through the earth (and all other non-living materia) at a speed of 300 feet/minute. The tendrils will continue to grow for 1 minute per hour the ritualist(s) chanted, feeding on several minerals and expanding to fill the inch-thick holes their passing creates. When the time is up the tendrils immediately turns into foul-smelling and slightly hallucinogenic vapours. This sudden undermining of most structures means a
catastrophic collapse of all building and even the ground itself in the infiltrated area comparable to a (very localized) Richter 9 earthquake with almost total destruction at the center (where the tendrils were
most concentrated) and somewhat less damage closer to the borders. The ritual leaves a very distinct depression in the earth easily detected by satellite scans.

SANITY COSTS :

  • 1d10 Sanity (Intensity 10 in Unnatural) to execute the ritual.
  • 1d4/1d6 (Intensity 6 in Helplessnes) to experience the effects (black worm-like tendrils wriggling through every surface then horrible hallucinations before everything starts to collapse and sink downward with a thundering roar ...).
