Project Nemesis is a fan driven website for games that use the One-Roll Engine (like Nemesis, Wild Talents, Reign and Monsters) or Chaosium's Basic Roleplay System (BRP) (like Call of Cthulhu) and the Delta Green setting.
I made some notes several months ago while going through my Pagan
Publishing materials and some Chaosium books (CHA2386 - v5.6 basic
rulebook & CHA2394 - Dreamlands). The Chaosium material was skimpy;
the Pagan stuff was great. This is what I came up with for a human
transforming into a lesser ghoul, using BRP & Pagan Publishing's
Mythos (inc non-DG works).
Going insane over the concept that Man isn't the special darling of the
Universe is kinda 1920s, and we need something more modern to fuel the
loss of SAN in the 21st Century. The idea is to take a firmly held
belief and turn it inside out. Obviously this requires a bit of fine
tuning and for some people the "there is no god but aliens" angle might
work best.
"But Willett was too quick for him. Even as the dogs in the yard
outside began to howl, and even as a chill wind sprang suddenly up from
the bay, the doctor commenced the solemn and measured intonation of
that which he had meant all along to recite. An eye for an eye - magic
for magic - let the outcome shew how well the lesson of the abyss had
been learned! So in a clear voice Marinus Bicknell Willett began the
second of that pair of formulae whose first had raised the writer of
those minuscules - the cryptic invocation whose heading was the
Dragon's Tail, sign of the descending node..."
The bibliography of Mythos-related works given in the 'Call of Cthulhu'
rules ends at about 1938. Barring the intervention of some mysterious
force or agency, there must have been at least *some* publications in
the last half-century dealing, however peripherally, with the Great Old
Ones.
