This is a martial path focusing on the use of the long spear in gladiatorial combat. Unless otherwise noted, these techniques do not combine.

Fending (1 point)
A successful attack with your spear can knock two dice (rather than one) from your opponent’s set if he is attacking you with a shorter weapon, and his attack has not yet gone off.

Go for the Legs (2 points)
When making a Trip attack with your spear, add 1 die to your pool.

Uncanny Accuracy (3 points)
When Making a called shot, or using an expert or master die, if you hit the chosen target you can ignore 1 point of armor.

The Butt End (4 points)
You can attack twice with your spear with no multiple action penalty. One hits with the point (normal spear damage: width + 1 killing, 1 shock) and the other with the butt (staff damage: width +2 shock).

Impale (5 points)

If you hit and do killing damage with your spear, you can drive it deeper into the wound. This will do 2 killing at the end of each following round, but you cannot then attack or parry with your spear. The victim can escape by making a dodge, grapple, or fight maneuver with a difficulty equal to the width or you original roll. You can pull the spear out yourself, but this qualifies as drawing a weapon giving you a 1 die penalty on that round. The target still takes 2 points killing damage when the spear is drawn out.

The guy in my group who had a Gladiator background decided to go with spear and shield rather than long spear. I developed this variant for him:

Overhand Strike (1 point)
This strong strike has a difficulty of 5, but converts the short spear damage to +1 killing, with no shock.

Interlocked Spear and Shield (2 points)
You can combine your spear attack with a shield parry with no penalty. This may not be combined with an Overhand Strike.

Uncanny Accuracy (3 points)

When Making a called shot, or using an expert or master die, if you hit the chosen target you can ignore 1 point of armor.

Fluttering Point (4 points)
You can make two attacks with your spear without multiple action penalties. This cannot be combined with Interlocked Spear and Shield, or Overhand Strike.
