Unknown ArmiesI was bored and had some time to spare today, so I entertained myself writing some of the major UA groups in terms of Reign's Companies. I'm playing by ear here - I haven't playtested any of this stuff, or Reign for that matter, so any comments will be welcome.

The New Inquisition

Goal: To do as Alex Abel says, and to get whatever he wants.

Might: 3 A small army of professional, trained criminals with state of the art equipment and some adepts on payroll.

Treasure: 5 Backed by one of the richest men in the US, with a solid financial structure which channels funds from Abel’s legal enterprises, they’re rolling in the dough.

Influence: 2 They’re learning and leaving their mark in the Underground through a combination of money, leg-breaking, and full-time clairvoyants.

Territory: 2 The size of the operation is tightly controlled, keeping a number of safe houses across the US.

Sovereignty: 2 They’re a bunch of amoral hardcases who have basically sold their lives to their employer. They’re expendable, and they know it.

The Sleepers

Goal: Keep magick and the occult away from mundane eyes.

Might: 2 Talented amateurs with some training, a good selection of magickal resources and some very scary people on their midst.

Treasure: 3 They keep secure funds in fiscal havens, which are enough to finance regular operations, though not with a great deal of luxury.

Influence: 4 They’re the boogeymen of the Occult Underground. They know the scene as well as anyone, are familiar most the major players and groups, and have infiltrated agents in several of them. Whenever they’re mentioned, minor dukes shit on their pants.

Territory: 3 While there aren’t that many of them, they’re spreaded across the world, keeping strongholds and safe bases in several continents. Plus, they’re damn hard to find.

Sovereignty: 3 Members are all dedicated volunteers who agree on a common goal, for all that they may have their own personal agendas.

The Sect of the Naked Goddess

Goal: Revel in - and benefit from - the truth of the Goddess.

Might: 1 For the most part, they’re just regular folks with lots of porn props, video equipment, and a number of pornomancers among their ranks.

Treasure: 2 They operate a small adult video business dedicated to sell and promote the works of the Goddess, and get donations from members as well.

Influence: 3 They have a direct pipeline to the Clergy, and their connection to synchronicity allows them to learn from events and influence things to a greater degree than anyone would expect.

Territory: 2 Growing membership (perhaps unsurprisingly, they’re fairly good at recruiting people) with their main base of operations in Chicago.

Sovereignty: 3 These are people who have seen God in a porn movie. Whether driven by religious belief or a desire for personal power, they’re deeply into it.

Mak Attax

Goal: Bring magick to the masses

Might: 1 Desk jockeys and burger flippers, with a few adepts to provide magickal backup.

Treasure: 0 Pass the hat around. The leadership keeps a box with a few thousand dollars for emergencies, and that’s it.

Influence: 1 They get an interest in any weird stuff they happen by, which means that they end up looking into a lot of plain, inadulterate bullshit. Other groups in the Underground scoff at them.

Territory: 3 They have a worldwide presence (even if most of them are in the US), and get a steady influx of members to replace those who quit. Also, clown franchises can be found everywhere.

Sovereignty: 2 The bulk of the organization shows some enthusiasm on a superficial level, but it's unfocused and ineffective, with an inner core of members being the ones who do most of the actual work.
