file icon REIGN Supplement #10: Harlots, Pirates and Storms
20.10.2008
The tenth Supplement for the game REIGN. Instead of the regular 10,000 word supplements you're used to, this one weighs in at over 15,000. It's my way of celebrating REIGN's tenth.

What do those 15,000 words describe?
  • Rules for Storms at Sea. Your travelers can now live through naval disasters as exciting and destructive as combat.
  • Campaign Frameworks. In response to the demand for ideas about how to run a REIGN campaign, three possibilities are presented.
    • Imperial Harlots. Forget everything but the Company rules as you try to govern the world's grandest political entity.
    • A military campaign pitting Ob-lob pirates against the all-seeing rulers of Upunzi.
    • A roguish romp through Uldholm and the Lightless Jungle that stters away from static fights to emphasize thrilling chases.

Also, the long awaited cheat sheet for resolving unconventional attacks and police actions.

The third REIGN supplement, Secrets of Sorcery.  By popular demand, it's the rules you need to create new spells for existing schools, and create new schools entirely.  Also, there are some freaky creatures.  Everyone loves freaky creatures.

  • Information on the cultures and history of the cities, from the suspicious totalitarianism of Upunzi to the conflicted morals of Mwa and the fierce independence of Punga's merchants.
  • One Roll Ruhini citizens.

  • Reign 6New Esoteric Disciplines. Any fixed Skill that doesn't have one in the main book gets one here, except for Stealth, which gets two.
  • New Advantages. All those odd edge-case aspects of a character that don't quite fit anywhere else. If you've been sitting around wondering how to make a character who (1) does the movie librarian trick where she lets her hair down and is suddenly gorgeous, (2) can put himself into a death trance or (3) who can take even more of a beating than you'd get with just Leather Hard, you'll be interested in this.
  • Other things. Hey, everyone loves surprises, right?

Supplement #8 provides some long-awaited information, including...

  • The Crimson Guard. At last, the specific details of the Jawless warriors' gruesome powers are revealed.
  • The Maemeck Matriarchy. Their history, culture and beliefs.
  • The Quellers. The enchantresses who protect the Matriarchy against The Empire are, within their own lands, as despised as they are necessary.

One additional item that may interest many...

  • An Alternate Map. Some people love Heluso and Milonda as reclining giants, but for those who prefer a more traditional geography, I've prepared a map that retains most of the borders and frontiers, without recourse to dark lands and immense land bridges.

There are a few little surprises in addition, as my thank-you to the fans who've supported this game so loyally.

Supplement 2 focuses on two of the game's most martial cultures -- Dindavara and the Western Marches. Specifically, you get...

  1. Two complete sets of Martial Techniques, one for hellishly huge battle-swords, one for paired short swords.

  2. Smoke Sculpting, the Marchers' magic of creating instant buildings and tools out of nothing more than common smoke.

  3. One Roll Dindavarans, another addition to the popular one-roll character generation charts.

  4. Stoneheart Guardians, a Dindavaran order of sorcerer monks who sacrifice their dreams, feelings and weaknesses on the altar of their god's will.
