This variant is about clandestine superheroes fighting a monolithic government conspiracy that will cover up any evidence of their existence if they can't be controlled or contained. Something a little like this...

...One day, about a week after a routine physical for school, your family is sitting down to dinner. Without warning there's a crash as the doors explode inward and all of the windows shatter. Armed men clad all in black are screaming to get down on the floor. Something goes terribly wrong. Suddenly machine guns are blazing all around and your mother is screaming. Smoke is everywhere and in the confusion you black out...

...you wake up a day later in an alley miles away from home. You're covered in blood and confused. You go home but before you get there a scruffy guy dressed like a homeless person jerks you into a neighbor's yard. His right hand roughly covers your mouth while his left points to a black van in a driveway a couple blocks away where there ought to be a convertable. He let's you go and motions for you to follow him.

In a basement he says his name is Chaplin. He says your family is dead because something went wrong. God in his infinite wisdom made you different and somebody in the government doesn't want people like you walking around. The men in black get real nervous when dealing with kids that can kill them with a wave of their hand, he says. What the hell does he mean by that you think to yourself. He says he'll take you someplace safe, but your old life is over forever.
